Deviance can be equated with total social disarrangement.  Such behavior can be completely unconsciously. It means the person often doesn`t realize that they act wrong towards others.  The main feature and issue of such impropriety are that moral and social norms lose their value and the personal limits to satisfaction of his needs. “Social deviations are acts like abusing serving staff or behaviors arising from mental illness and addiction, which are not illegal in themselves but are widely regarded as serious or harmful” (Little, McGivern,2013)

The social norms are expected by society rules which are expected to confirm a culture or community. These rules dictate the foundation of correct behavior towards other members of society. Unfortunately, social norms are most noticeable when people forget about them or violate them. Why are these rules so important? All the people want to live in an equal society where aren’t any harms, violence or destruction. So, everyone should satisfy these norms and show respect to other people. What will happen when somebody breaks it? This can provoke both innocuous disapproval and protests or even wars. There can be any consequences.

So, deviance is one of such violation of the rules. When it`s about people who remain high on the society it provokes the corresponding response.  Obviously, most people are going just to discuss and judge, but in so doing they are getting confused. The press tries to understand the intentions of such behavior because it`s hard to assume that the famous person could take such liberties as for example racist statements. Modern society gives more emphasis on the words. So, the words of Donald Sterling, the billionaire’s and ex-owner of the LA Clippers, also didn`t go unheeded.

His story with NBA`s team began with the promise that he will make people proud of the LA Clippers and ended with racists outgiving at the middle of a playoff. Surely social controls played an important role in the loss of his ownership. The owner of the huge state in America should take responsibility for his own action, even more, the Clippers owner, the team of NBA, the respectable organization, which David Stern has built for years.

Donald Sterling is the man over 80 years old. Could the assumption, that his age let him humiliate black people, be supported? Rather, his social status, a lot of many and a certain power make him think that he can tell what he wants. Maya Moor from Bakersfield College expresses an opinion “White men realize that the minorities of the world are just about fed up of being belittled and treated as second-class citizens, so they try to do all they can to keep people of color down so the status quo isn't disrupted.”  (Moore, 2015) Social norms must be equal for all people even for young and old, poor and rich.

Sterling`s words weren`t politically correct in America. There must be no place for such words in the country where for so many years black people were fighting for their life, especially in the country whose president was African American man. What did Obama think about this? During a visit to Malaysia, he commented on Sterling’s words: “The United States continues to wrestle with a legacy of race and slavery and segregation that's still there - the vestiges of discrimination. We've made enormous strides, but you're going to continue to see this percolate up every so often. And I think that we just have to be clear and steady in denouncing it, teaching our children differently, but also how we view ourselves.” So, it is very important that solidarity to the black community was by every person regardless of age or social status.

In all these cases, the deviation is the result of the inability or unwillingness of individuals to adapt to society and its requirements, in other words, it indicates a complete or relative failure of socialization. Surely social control took care of protection those people who were harmed by deviance from other people.

Against Donald Sterling were envisaged both formal and informal sanctions. It goes without saying that there were criticism and disapproval. Besides it, NBA`s commissioner Adam Silver excluded Sterling from the organization. Therefore, he lost the place in association and the team. So, he couldn`t visit NBA games and make any influence. He was also fined $2.5 million. "Among other things, Mr. Sterling disparaged African-Americans and 'minorities'; directed a female acquaintance not to associate publicly with African-Americans or to bring African-Americans to Clippers games; and criticized African-Americans for not supporting their communities," the NBA said.

On the other hand, the price for a team reached the maximum – $2 billion. Special mention must be made of the starting price - $12million. So, it was a highly profitable investment for Donald Sterling. That`s why there are people who guess that those statements were on purpose. The price for the team was much more and the fine was small enough for the billionaire. Eventually, it could be claimed that the team which mostly came to harm from Sterling`s words would have satisfied. The team was sold to former Microsoft chief executive Steve Ballmer. The team`s owner is not racist anymore.

With regard to risk factors that relate to the age of the people who could behave deviant. It’s hard to say exactly. It mostly depends on surroundings, lifestyle and social status. There are many deviance adolescents, but it is not about age. It is rather about the problem of dependence on alcohol or drugs. However, this problem touches not only teenagers but also other people who have such troubles. Deviant behavior can also push the people to commit the crimes or harm the people not only morally but also physically.

According to Becker(1963) “… social groups create deviance by making the rules whose infraction constitute deviance, and by applying those rules to particular people and labeling them as outsiders”. So, there are a lot of opinions but one thing mustn`t be changed – tolerance between members of society.
